1. Kanye West
Kanye is the number one Modern Transcendentalist because he is constantly being misunderstood about his clothing line. After starting his own clothing line in 2006, many celebrities complain that it looks "slave-like". Sources say that Kanye wants his clothing to compliment the skin tone/color so it will stand out more. So far, many people have criticized Kanye about his choices of clothing, but that doesn't stop him from selling it. He doesn't rely or care about anyone's feelings toward the clothing which means he relies on himself.

2. Michael JacksonMichael Jackson is the number two (late) Modern Transcendentalist because of his concern of the animals and Earth. He was well known for his love of nature and made plenty of songs including it. For example, Heal the World, Man in the Mirror, We are the World, and the Earth Song (1995). He uses these songs to tell us all the bad things we've done to the Earth and how we are too clueless to notice it. Michael is explaining the Importance of Nature.

3. Miley CyrusMiley Cyrus is the third Modern Transcendentalist. She doesn't care about what anyone thinks of her and wants to rebel against society on how people view females. After Miley changed her hair and attitude, everyone started to to judge her because she was different. She wants females to feel good about change because society is wrong. Being yourself is better than trying to be someone you're not. Miley is a Nonconformist.

“Is it so bad then to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Self-Reliance”
4. Toby Maguire Toby Maguire is the fourth Modern Transcendentalist that lives a simple life. Even though he had a salary of 26 million from acting in the "Spider-Man" series, Toby still dresses casually. Because his family didn't have much, Toby had to learn how to say money when he was young. He believes that living a simple lifestyle will keep them out of a financial crisis. He doesn't want to get to the point where he spends so much money that he has to keep making movies to survive.

Luke Kuechly is the fifth Modern Transcendentalist because of his quick thinking on the field. In order for him to be successful in the National Football League, Luke has to be a quick thinker. He relies on his instincts before reason. When the quarterback hands the ball to the running back, Luke will instantly look at the offensive guard before the running back. This is a great method because it helps him get to running back quicker to make the tackle. In reality, your conscience would tell you to chase the running back down, but look trusts his instincts from so many practices. This means he favors intuition over reason.
“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
